The installer is in the folder "FCWIN350".

Attempt to run the FirstClass Client installer first.

If it runs with no issue and installs, - GREAT!

The installer by default installs in c:\FCWIN, so copy the STRLIGHT.FC settings file to the c:\FCWIN\Settings folder.

I recommend adding a shortcut for the client on your taskbar.

If you get an error saying that the app can't be run on your version of Windows, - (and you probably will) it's because the FirstClass Client for Windows for 3.5 is a 16bit App, so any 32bit version of Windows up to Windows 10 X32 should be able to run the client straight away.

However if you are running any version of Windows 10 X64 and Up, or get an error when you try to run the installer that windows can not run this app, then you will need to launch the installer in the folder "otvdm-v0.9.0" - NOT the one that says "install (no console)" just the installer named "install".

This is a genius app by a cool person that allows Windows versions that aren't able to natively, - to run 16bit Applications.

The install takes seconds, - literally with no human interaction and once installed you only need to run the 16bit apps you're trying to run as you would any other program.

Once this is installed, you (should) be able to run the FirstClass installer in the Folder "FCWIN350".

You MIGHT get an error saying the installer won't run with error "vcruntime140.dll was not found".

IF you get this error, - easy peasy.

Open the folder "VC Runtime AIO" and right click on the file "install_all" batch file and "Run with administrator" and it will install everything you need.

When your done, the installer will run beautifully and you can install the client in c:\FCWIN, copy the Staright settings file "STRLIGHT.FC" into the settings folder, - (c:\FCWIN\Settings).

Once the install is complete you will need to adjust the properties for the file that launches the client, - "FCClient" as follows:

Under the Compatibility tab, under the section "Compatibility mode" click the checkbox for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
and choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".

Lastly, click the check box to "Run this program as administrator" and click "Apply", then "OK".

Finally, if you haven't done so already, I recommend you right click on the launcher "FCClient" and pin it to your taskbar.

Launch the Client and a gray workspace will fill the screen, - (this can be resized as needed, so that you can drag and drop files on folder in the BBS).

Go to the "Service" menu on the Menu Bar and choose "Connect" and a window will pop up and it should show the Starlight BBS settings file for you to choose, - (STRLIGHT.FC) if you had pasted it in there prior to launching.

You will see a blank line for a username and a blank line for the password. If you are a new user, simply enter the handle you would like to use and the desired password and the BBS will tell you if the name is in use that you want or if it's available, a form will appear and let you proceed with registration.

Read the provided guide in this folder for the Windows FirstClass client for more information, and pictures of the registration process.
